Vision & Policy

Shepherd Planet takes pride in only employing the best multilingual guides, who must have a minimum of 5 years advanced trekking experience. We solely employ people from the regions' ethnic minority nationalities.

  • Where ever possible, we overnight in nice hotels. Otherwise we sleep in simple and genuine guest-houses, in local families and make tent camps in breathtaking locations.
  • Good and nutricious local food is served, but occasionally we also try a simple campsite meal. We drink boiled and filtered water from natural springs supplemented by tea, beer and local spirits (when available).
  • Toilet- and hot shower facilities are not always available, but whenever possible we'll overnight in nice hotels and guest-houses. Now and then you will even have a choice of either camp in your tent or stay in a guest-house with some facilities.
  • Safety first, for example, means that only reliable and suitable cars and drivers will be used and that treks are made as safe as possible, e.g. with the help of walkie talkie communication between trekking guide and assistants. We employ local minority nationality people, who are the inventors of our treks and can handle any given situation in their area.

Shepherd Planet cares about nature and culture, and leaves nothing but footprints and good impressions.
